RED ROCKS | satisfying my climbing craving... and then some.
i had the most specacular weekend filled with laughs, smiles, hugs, friends, food, CLIMBING!, and just plain ol' feel good moments. i have missed climbing sooooo much! this vegas trip marked my return after a 2 month hiatus (due to a finger injury).
saturday, we split up-- my buddies Tony, Jose, Andy and I did some sport climbing at the Black Corridor- i did some fun easy leads- and then we had some bouldering action at the Kraft Boulders (the finger was *thumbs up*)
andy: hmmm, itchy | jose: argh! why does linda hafta stand next to me? | me: why are the boys making me carry all the gear!?

Tung & Will, and Shanjean & Drew went to tackle some multipitch routes (YAY for p and drew for climbing Frogland- awesome!) We met up at the end of the day and headed to the strip for some grubbing and just good ol' vegas fun :P We ended up having some gooooood japanese food courtesy of MGM Grand (shanj's mom had the hookup... which was good because our bill came out to be around 750 dollars!! O.O) hung out for a bit then back to camp for some shuteye.
me and shanjean
sunday- tony and i decided last minute to take off for some trad climbing 'early' in the morning. we hauled ass on the approach and made it to the crag in like 15 minutes (via scrambling shortcuts...haha) and then i did my first trad lead! oh man, it was so AWESOME!! 5.9 beautiful splitter crack called straight shooter. i was so proud of myself :D it was only my second time doing trad and i led it clean :P finger locks most of the way with a super thin finger crack crux...it was amazing...
mmmm...finger locks | me at the top

went back to camp, packed up and met up with the others who were doing sport at Black Corridor. hung out, talked, soaked up the nevada sun... *sigh* life felt really good.
shanjean, me and drew

all smiles with the hot steppa

the gang hangin with the red rocks- drew, shanjean, jose, will, tony, me and tung (missing: andy)
