crap man. lost to USC. let's not talk about it ;\

| good vs evil |
had a really interesting lecture today in my philosophy of religion class. basically learned the argument from evil for the nonexistence of god. (note to reader: was really tired in class due to lack of sleep, so may be incoherent..hehe) here's the argument:
1. If God exists, there is an all knowing, all powerful, all good being
2. If there is an all knowing, all powerful, all good being, then there is a being that knows about, can prevent, and wants to prevent evil.
3. If there is a being that knows about, can prevent, and wants to prevent evil, there's no evil
4. There is evil (evil defined as "undeserved suffering")
5. There is no being that knows about, can prevent, and wants to prevent evil (from 3,4)
6. There is no all knowing, all powerful, all good being (from 2,5)
7. There is no God (from 1,6)
interesting eh? now the only way for this argument to not work is to deny one of the premises (1-4) im sure many ppl can think of things to say to refute certain parts of the argument...but uh..more on this later (:
