| the incredible laceration on my right posterior bicep... |
since everyone seems to be asking about my lil accident, here's the story:
Williamson Rock with Ken, Kathy, Tung, Jose and JustinG
I was getting ready to lead this 5.10b(?) climb that i was belaying jose on. he was up there getting ready to rap down so i was down below making sure he pulled the rope up ok. and all of a sudden, i see this rock from above. fell really quick and just nicked me on the side of my right upper arm. and i was like...oh, i just got hit by a rock, interesting. didnt really hurt. i turned to look at it and looked back up at jose. but then i was like...wait, that didnt look right. so i did this double take and looked at it again and i swear my jaw dropped (one of the girls there said my face kinda turned pale) it was crazy! almost surreal. there on my arm was this huge gash! about an inch & a half long, half an inch deep...split wide open. it was kinda white and then i saw the orange of my flesh and i was....holy shit. so i kinda walked across the lil river and this girl diana was like "are you ok?" and i was like...kinda speechless and i said "um, i think so..." and she saw my arm and was like "whoa linda, come sit down....dont look at your arm" and i was thinking in my head...i've already seen it! O.O
they gave me some drugs, wrapped it up with gauze and tape and i was like....just boggled by it all. i was like...wth. how can a rock do that to me!? just unbelievable! but then i guess if you think about it, from about 90 ft up..the speed, the force on impact. made sense. anywhos...we hiked outta there (early. grrr. which made me really mad bc i didnt get to climb as much as i wanted to and also kinda guilty bc i imagined everyone else would want to stay and climb) while we driving out, we saw the rescue team van off to the side of the road. so we pulled over and they cleaned up my gash. OMG, it hurt like a bitch, but you know...i tried to keep cool. yay for high pain tolerance :D drove back to ucla and i went to the ER and jose kept me company in there....for 4 hours. i finally got in, got a tetanus shot, numbed up, stitched up. jose and i had a bet going for how many stitches i would get. he said 7, i said 6. i won :D haha. he tried to convince the doctor that i needed another stitch...hahaha. yeah, so then i got outta there, went to meet up with the others. went out to dinner at hurry curry and justin lin met us there. and finally here i yam. really tired and really sad bc this just means that i must take a longer break from climbing and exercise in general. *sigh* the end.
